Product Description

Mt Beautiful is owned by husband and wife team, David and Leigh Teece. After extensive exploration of New Zealand’s wine regions, the Teece’s chose the Cheviot Hills of North Canterbury, on New Zealand’s South Island. Their Mt Beautiful vineyard lies on the southern banks of the Waiau River, near the settlement of Spotswood, north of the town of Cheviot. The Mt Beautiful vineyard is named for a nearby landmark peak that is located between the vineyard and the sea, shielding the vines from harsh coastal winds.

“This complex, deep ruby coloured Pinot Noir is fragrant with dried flowers and forest floor aromas. On the palate it shows ripe blackberry fruit with a hint of exotic spice and fine, savoury tannins. Full-bodied and strongly structured, this wine is already drinking well, but will gain further structure and develop beautifully with cellaring over the next three years.” – The Winery

International Wine Cellars (IWC) Review

IWC 89
Light-medium red with a pale rim. Low-toned aromas of strawberry, plum and oak, with a suggestion of fruit preserves. Then more vibrant in the mouth than the nose suggests, offering round, nicely concentrated red berry and spice flavors complicated by menthol and underbrush. Finishes with a fine dusting of sweet tannins and very good length. The preserved fruit quality shows up again on the aftertaste.

Wine Advocate (WA) Review

WA 90
Medium ruby-purple in color, the 2009 Pinot Noir has ripe red cherry and white pepper aromas with some tree bark and a bit of kirsch. Concentrated in the medium-full bodied mouth, it has high acid and fine tannins, finishing long. Drink it now to 2015+.
