Product Description

This small production (only 350 cases available), single-vineyard Pinot Gris offers delightful notes of pear, baked apple and honey, with a touch of candied lemon peel. Rich and medium-bodied, flavors of apricot preserves, melon and Meyer lemon dance on the palate.

Located in Northern California’s rustic, pastoral Anderson Valley, Breggo Cellars specializes in stunning wines from Alsatian varietals - Pinot Gris, Gewurztraminer and Riesling.

Breggo means “sheep” in the local dialect, homage to the area’s native population of sheep. The winery property, a 203-acre farm, was one of the first sheep ranches in Anderson Valley. “Sheep, like the domesticated vinifera grapevine, occupy and even thrive on the geographic periphery - places too steep, with soils too thin and climates too cold for other types of agriculture. Sheep and vines flourish where the domesticated meets the wilderness.”

Wine Advocate (WA) Review

WA 90
The 2009 Pinot Gris Wiley Vineyard (350 cases) displays more buttery apple skin notes, with a hint of marmalade and spice. Medium-bodied, richly fruity, it comes across as vibrant and fresh, slightly richer, more honeyed version of the generic Pinot Gris.
