The 2008 Barbaresco Chiaramonti is quite beautiful in this vintage. Sweet dark cherries and plums flow onto the palate, followed by hints of tar, smoke and licorice. The Chiaramonti shows lovely mid-palate fleshiness and terrific overall balance. Though a touch on the smaller-scaled side, the wine impresses for its poise and exceptional, long finish. Mint, dried cherries and crushed flowers wrap around the finish. Anticipated maturity: 2015-2023.
