Product Overview

"A hint of resin adds breadth to the mostly floral and citrus aromas that precede the stony, intense and detailed medium-bodied flavors that offer good if not exceptional depth and fine finishing punch and persistence. This is a mineral-driven wine that hasn't quite found its center yet as it lacks a bit of overall harmony though this may very well arrive after a year or so in bottle. My score offers the benefit of the doubt as the underlying material seems to be quite solid plus Girardin has an extremely good track record with this wine." 91 pts. Alain Meadows

International Wine Cellarage (IWC) Review

IWC 92
Pale, bright yellow. High-pitched aromas of lime, violet and talc, with a complicating saline note. Dense, rich, sappy and dry, with a fine-grained texture for the vintage. Firm acids and a powdered stone element give terrific lift to the flavors of citrus and stone fruits. Initially rather bracing, this wine opened beautifully after spending 72 hours in my refrigerator, showing an increasingly ripe peach flavor without losing its freshness. -Stephen Tanzer

The Girardin 2006 Chassagne-Montrachet Le Cailleret is significantly marked by the lanolin and resin aromas of new wood, but flowers, fresh lime, and suggestions of quarry dust emerge as well. Bright and firm on the palate, yet with considerable fullness (at 14% alcohol), this finishes with an emphasis on chalk and stones. The sense of leanness and restraint may prove a good sign in terms of evolution, but I would plan to revisit this after a couple of years in bottle. -David Schildknecht

Wine Spectactor (WS) Review

Delicate and detailed, with fleeting glimpses of spring blossom, citrus, mineral and spice aromas and flavors. This is harmonious, but could use a little time to integrate more fully. Subtle length. Best from 2009 through 2017. 75 cases imported. –BS
