International Wine Cellars (IWC) Review

Deep red. Spicy cherry and dark berry aromas, with strong herb and tobacco undertones. Dark fruit flavors are firmed by slightly dry tannins and complicated by musky notes of licorice and bitter tobacco. Not a fruity style and a bit tough going right now. Needs time.

The 2004 Jarrarte was barrel fermented and aged in new French oak for 12 months. Dark ruby-colored, it offers up a fragrant bouquet of pain grille, pencil lead, black cherry, and blackberry. Supple, elegant, and almost Burgundy-like, it has plenty of silky fruit, several years of aging potential, and a long, pure finish. -Jay Miller
