Product Overview

Jean-Marc Pillot has recently assumed responsibility for the management of this domaine although his father, Jean, remains by his side rendering advice and valuable assistance in the vineyards. Jean-Marc has instituted several changes at the estate, the most prominent of which is the construction of a new cave. The subtle, but important, modifications in vinification and elevage now in place under Jean-Marc's direction have driven this domaine to the very top of its class with wines that are intensely fruity, graceful, and precise.

International Wine Cellarage (IWC) Review

IWC 90
Reticent nose shows more buttery oak than fruit today. Then fresh but closed in the mouth, with a hint of lemon. Best today on the very long, strong finish. Today, this shows the rigor of the vintage more than it displays its terroir character. -Stephen Tanzer

Burghound/Allen Meadows (BH) Review

BH 89
Almost always the best wine chez Pillot and so it is again in 2002 with deeply concentrated and earthy red and black pinot fruit notes that explode from the glass and complement robust, dense, muscular flavors supported by buried tannins and a tight, reserved and punchy finish. Unlike the prior wines that could possibly be enjoyed young, this will clearly require time to be at its best.
