International Wine Cellars (IWC) Review

Pale greeny-gold color. Musky aromas of minerals, ginger and earth; suggestions of Burgundian funk. Very rich and chewy, with dusty flavors of orange peel and earth. Full, generous and impressively deep. The impression of powdered stone gives the finish a tactile quality.

The 1998 Chardonnay Durell Vineyard is tight and backward. Always the last to be harvested (because of the extremely cool micro-climate), the 1998 possesses considerable force and intensity, with a mineral, citrusy, lemon blossom, orange peel component to its full-bodied richness. It reveals good acidity and power, all of which is harnessed and beautifully balanced.

An elegant style, with subtle, understated fig, melon, anise and toasty oak. The texture is silky, with a long, rich, buttery aftertaste.
