Product Overview

Winemaker's notes: "Rich color, good depth. Demonstrating mature complexity. Savory and smoky, with some leather and meat aromas; fruit infused with wisps of butterscotch, cherry syrup, plums, sandalwood, cheese rind, rosemary, and herbs. Perfectly reflective of that lovely transition phase between young and old. Nice structure and good length. Holding up beautifully."

International Wine Cellarage (IWC) Review

IWC 89-93
Saturated, deep ruby-red. Tight, inky aroma of cassis and shoe polish. Very intense dark berry flavor; shows more personality in the mouth today than it does on the nose. A delicious sample, almost too tasty for such a young sample. Finishes very long, with firm tannins.

Wine Advocate (WA) Review

WA 93
The 1997 Cabernet Sauvignon is a model of symmetry and grace deftly married with super concentrated blueberry, blackberry, and cassis flavors infused with subtle new wood. This medium to full-bodied, seamless, youthful beauty will benefit from 2-3 years of cellaring, and should last for two decades.-Robert Parker

Wine Spectactor (WS) Review

WS 94
Elegantly framed, with rich, appealing herb, currant, chocolate and black cherry flavor that's complex and concentrated, finishing with firm, well-integrated tannins. Best from 2002 through 2010. 4,826 cases made. –JL
